We are seeking to appoint a Cover Supervisor. It is an exciting time to join The Hamble School during a period of rapid improvement and change. Our vision ‘We Care, We Aim High, We Learn and Achieve Together’ encapsulates the work we do every day. We have strong links with parents/ carers and the local community to ensure that all students are supported to achieve their very best and leave the school as lifelong learners. Our intake numbers are increasing – we currently have 1163 students.
Ideally you will need to have had some experience of working with young people - although this is not essential - preferably in an educational setting, and have a real interest in supporting them to achieve their full potential. Working closely with our Cover Manager as part of our Cover Team, the main duties of this role will be to supervise students while they complete set work either in groups or classes in the absence of the teacher.
The successful candidate must be educated to at least GCSE level (or equivalent) and have proven literacy and numeracy skills, having achieved Grade C, or above, in Maths and English. Strong IT skills would also be advantageous. The ideal candidate must also be able to demonstrate resilience, resourcefulness, initiative, good time management, and patience. This is an ideal role for those considering a future career in teaching or someone looking to consolidate their teaching experience following a teacher training course. It would also suit retired teachers or those returning to teaching following a career break.
In return, we can offer you:
- a positive and optimistic working environment focused on staff well-being, student welfare, progress and high standards of achievement and behaviour;
- opportunities to further develop your skills;
- personal career development to assist you in the fulfilment of your ambitions;
- a well-equipped campus with excellent gym and swimming facilities run by Everyone Active which staff can take advantage of for free, access to leisure and sports classes at heavily discounted membership rates and preferential rates for family members;
- the opportunity to apply for discounted childcare placements with Hamble Early Years Centre, based directly next to the school;
- free on-site parking and good local public transport links to the school (bus/ rail).
