Caretaker/Site Manager

Job Introduction

Salary:  Grade C/D (dependent on experience)

Contract hours: Monday to Friday 7am to 2pm (30 mins lunch) Working 44 weeks per year (working 3 weeks during Summer holidays, 1 week during Easter holidays and 1 week dependent on needs of school)

Padnell Junior School is seeking a proactive and reliable Caretaker/Site Manager to join our supportive staff team. This vital role involves ensuring the smooth day-to-day running and maintenance of our school site, helping to create a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake a wide range of repairs, maintenance and decoration tasks across the school site
• Ensure the highest standards of health and safety are consistently maintained
• Unlocking and locking up of the school buildings
• Act as principle key holder, attending call outs/emergencies
• Organise and maintain the school’s large external grounds in collaboration with external support services
• Work flexibly and independently to meet the evolving needs of the school
• Communicate effectively with staff, visitors, and contractors
• Lone working responsibilities with a strong focus on safety and organisation

 Required Qualifications and Experience

• Full clean driving licence
• Proven ability to work flexibly and independently
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Experience in undertaking repairs, maintenance, and decoration
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable Qualities

• Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
• MIDAS qualification
