Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen for us to offer a Family Leave post at our school, initially from the 1st June for the remainder of the Summer Term (with the possibility of extending this to the Autumn and Spring Terms next academic year).  We are eager to hear from teachers seeking a part-time or full-time role and want to appoint someone who will provide support, care and continuity for the class in their last half term.

We are a very happy, successful and forward-thinking school where children work hard and behave well. We were delighted that this was recognised in our recent Ofsted Inspection (June 2025) which says ‘Pupils love their school. There is a strong sense of community and belonging’.  The wellbeing of our children and staff is at the heart of all we do and it is genuinely a nice place to work! ‘Staff are rightly proud to work here. They feel well supported to develop professionally and to manage their well-being.’ (Ofsted)

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reflective and creative teacher to be part of our continued commitment to excellence and enjoyment for all our children.  We have high expectations of ourselves as well as the children and are proud that this was recognised by Ofsted.

This role is based in a Year 5 class to cover family leave for one of our lovely teachers. We can offer you

  • A supportive staff, parent and governor community plus fantastic, hardworking children.
  • All the fun summer events, including Sports Day etc!
  • No Reports to write as these will have been done already.
  • Weekly PPA time with your year group and ongoing professional development, including additional release time/training opportunities.
  • The chance to work in partnership with experienced colleagues.
  • An exciting curriculum to teach, which is planned collaboratively.  We are always eager to take on new ideas too and are proud to offer learning through initiatives such as Let’s Think in English.
  • A positive school community, where teamwork is a real strength and staff wellbeing is important. We have high expectations of both children and our staff but also believe that everyone’s experience of school should be successful and memorable too!
  • A very well-resourced school with extensive grounds, Forest School and excellent facilities for learning.

If you would like to know more about this post, please do not hesitate to contact us.   Visits to the school are welcomed and can be arranged by calling 01252 617928  or emailing the school office adminoffice@heatherside-jun.hants.sch.uk We are always proud to show people around and for applicants to be able to see our school in action.
