SEN Learning Support Assistant for our Resourced Provision

Job Introduction

Fleet Infant School has a Resourced Provision, for a maximum of 9 pupils diagnosed with ASD, which opened in September 2025. There are currently 6 children in the provision and this will rise to 9 children by 2027. The pupils learn within the Resourced Provision and within our mainstream classes. 

We are seeking to appoint a passionate, flexible and enthusiastic part-time Learning Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a child with autism and speech and language needs both within the Resourced Provision and the main stream school.  You will be required to support and engage this child in their learning and adapt activities to suit their needs under the direction of the Class Teacher. The role will include lunchtime supervision of this child.

We are looking for someone who has:

• a calm, patient and positive approach with the ability to be evaluative and reflective.
• previous recent experience of working with children with additional needs and knowledge of a range of strategies for managing their behaviour would be an advantage.
• the ability to establish a sympathetic and understanding relationship with an individual child.
• an understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.
• excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both children and adults.
• the ability to follow directed procedures and also be able to work under their own initiative.
• excellent Maths and English skills.
• a well organised and systematic approach, yet is also adaptable and flexible.
• good sense of humour.
