Salary Details: £13,461- £14,142 pro-rata salary, dependent on experience & qualifications – FTE £24,027- £25,430
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday – 8:30am to 1:20pm, term time only
Are you considering training to be a primary school teacher? We have two positions for Learning Support Assistants at Herne Junior which would be ideal for someone who is looking to gain real school experience before apply to train as a teacher. If this is you, and you are successful at interview, we will support you in developing your application to train as a teacher with our teacher training partner South Farnham SCITT.
Alternatively, if you are a Learning Support Assistant looking to develop your knowledge and understanding of neurodiversity and the Thrive approach to learning these roles could be ideal for you.
We are looking for a supportive, flexible and professional person, ideally with proven previous experience in Key Stage 1 or 2, to join our established learning support team. Good numeracy and literacy skills are essential (GCSE Grade C+ in English and Maths or equivalent) as well as a commitment to working as part of a team. Experience working with neurodiverse students would be advantageous but not essential.
You will be supporting children in class and individuals/groups of pupils to provide intervention as directed. You will be required to keep accurate records and be able to provide feedback to the teachers.
For the right candidate, with appropriate qualifications, there may be an opportunity for some cover work.
Skills required include:
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Ability to relate well to children and adults
- Positive, sunny outlook
- Work constructively as part of a team
- Working alongside children with SEN/behavioural difficulties is desirable but not essential
- Experience of working with neurodiverse students would be advantageous but not essential
