Job Introduction

The aims of the post of SENCO at Cody Oaks: 


  • To support implementation and sustain the provisions identified within the EHCP of students at Cody Oaks
  • To model best practice in the implementation of provision for SEMH learners within a therapeutic informed environment.
  • To coordinate Annual Reviews for students at Cody Oaks
  • To provide training for tutors at Cody Oaks to complete Annual Reviews for the learners within their provision
  • To liaise with SEN regarding the provision and funding for students at Cody Oaks.
  • To keep appropriate records in line with statutory requirements.
  • To maintain students Classroom Support Plans (overviews of EHCP)
  • To regularly review and maintain an Audit of Need within the provision
  • To be at the forefront of development within SEN and best practice within a therapeutic and trauma informed school.
  • To ensure appropriate Access Arrangements are in place to support students through examination.
  • To liaise and maintain positive relationships with parents and other external organisations.
  • To coordinate the use of internal and external therapists to support the students at Cody Oaks
  • To monitor and measure the impact of provision and present this to SLT
  • To be part of and contribute to the SLT team and the wider responsibilities of the school
  • To play a key role in the operational day to day of the school


Staff Responsibilities in relation to staff are to: 


  • To monitor the implementation of SEN provision across Cody Oaks
  • To hold staff to account regarding the sustained implementation of provision across Cody Oaks
  • To provide training and coaching for staff to allow the successful implementation of SEN provision
  • To lead aspects of CPD to make sure all staff have the knowledge and competency to implement SEN provision and developing practices.
  • To monitor and measure impact of provisions and present effectively to the leadership team.

 

Additional Professional Duties: 

 

  • To be committed to safeguarding and promoting of children and young people, and to uphold the School’s safeguarding policies and practice.
  • To participate in performance management within an agreed School policy for other teachers’/learning support assistants and their own performance as agreed.
  • To participate in, and contribute towards, In-house training during the year.
  • To carry out the duties of a teacher as set out in the current School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document.                                                                                              
  • To report and attend EHCP Annual Review meetings and other relevant conferences for students within or outside the school as required.
  • To support and develop integration, where appropriate, both inside and outside of school.
  • This position does have an allocated teaching responsibility of 0.3
