We are seeking a motivated and skilled Temporary ICT Technician to join our team at Hollywater School, we're a Special School committed to providing exceptional educational experiences for students with diverse needs. The ICT Technician will be responsible for supporting the school's IT infrastructure, assisting in the maintenance of hardware and software, and ensuring that ICT resources are available and functional for both staff and students.
Key Responsibilities:
· ICT Support and Maintenance:
o Provide technical support to staff and students for ICT-related issues, including hardware, software, and network systems.
o Assist with setting up and maintaining ICT equipment, such as computers, interactive whiteboards, projectors, and other devices.
o Perform regular checks and updates on hardware and software to ensure all systems are functioning efficiently.
o Troubleshoot and resolve ICT issues promptly, escalating more complex issues to the IT Manager when necessary.
· System and Network Management:
o Assist in the management of the school’s local area network (LAN) and wireless networks.
o Support the installation and configuration of new software, ensuring compatibility with existing systems.
o Ensure the security and integrity of the school’s data by assisting with the implementation of backup procedures and antivirus software.
· User Support:
o Assist staff and students in using ICT equipment and software, providing training and guidance as needed.
o Support teachers in the integration of technology into the classroom, particularly in special education environments, ensuring that technology is accessible and beneficial for all students.
· Resource Management:
o Help manage and maintain inventories of ICT equipment, ensuring proper documentation and tracking of resources.
o Assist with setting up new hardware and software for students and staff as required.
· Health and Safety:
o Ensure that all ICT equipment complies with health and safety standards, making sure cables, plugs, and devices are safe to use.
o Follow protocols for the disposal of old equipment in an environmentally responsible manner.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Essential:
o Basic knowledge and experience in IT support, including hardware and software troubleshooting.
o Experience with Windows, macOS, and/or ChromeOS operating systems.
o Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
o Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and external suppliers.
o A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt in a school environment.
· Desirable:
o Previous experience working in an educational or special education setting.
o Familiarity with assistive technology and accessibility tools.
o IT-related qualifications, such as an IT diploma, A+, or equivalent certifications.
o Experience with network setup and maintenance.
