Job Introduction
We are seeking a committed and innovative SENCO to join our dynamic team, delivering tailored education to secondary-aged students with SEMH needs. This role offers a competitive salary, including an SEN allowance, to attract skilled professionals dedicated to making a difference.
About You:
You are an experienced, compassionate, and resilient educator, ideally with a background in primary teaching and a strong desire to support students with complex SEMH needs. Your role will be instrumental in fostering a trauma-informed environment and supporting students with a range of behavioural challenges.
We are looking for a SENCO with the ability to engage and inspire, capable of teaching across subjects, including English and Maths, in addition to their specialist area.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a National Award for SEN Coordination
- Proven experience in supporting students with SEMH or complex SEN needs
- In-depth understanding of SEN legislation, policies, and procedures
- Strong knowledge of effective strategies for differentiation and behaviour management in a trauma-informed setting
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and external agencies
Role and Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the provision for students with SEMH and other special educational needs, ensuring high-quality, personalised support
- Leading the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other support plans, ensuring students’ needs are met effectively
- Advising and supporting staff in planning, teaching, and assessing students with SEMH and SEN
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions and adjusting them as needed to improve outcomes
- Acting as the main point of contact for external agencies, coordinating input for EHCPs and other assessments
- Upholding the highest standards of safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all students
