We are seeking a caring, patient and dedicated one-to-one Teaching Assistant. If you share our values then we would love to hear from you.
The successful candidate will work within a supportive team under the direction of the SENCo and the class teacher.
This role involves:
- working one to one with pupils who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and Global Developmental Delay
- providing tailored support to help them access learning, develop independence, and thrive in a nurturing environment.
- understanding of Intensive Interaction and Attention Autism.
- Providing intimate care
About you
Essential skills and experience:
- shows warmth and genuine care alongside patience and consistency
- has experience of working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Global Developmental Delay
- has experience of Alternative Communication Systems such as PECS and TOBIS
- has experience and understanding of Intensive Interaction and Attention Autism
- has a good standard of general education (GSCE grades A-C in English and Maths)
- is comfortable providing personal and intimate care in a professional manner.
- is able to work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- is reliable, flexible, and committed to supporting the school’s inclusive ethos.
- is able to work independently with initiative
- has high expectations of learning
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification or equivalent
- Team Teach Trained
- Experience of delivering speech and language interventions
- An interest in singing and music
The role will require the successful candidate to:
- meet and greet the child to ensure that transition from home to school is positive.
- make them feel safe, happy and cared for at school
- provide a calm, structured environment
- support with toilet and personal care needs
- work under the directions of the class teacher and SENCO
